From an immeasurable sense of well-being to healthy coastal habitats and increased tourism, clean beaches contribute countless positive impacts to our lives. Similarly, littered beaches have adverse effects on the health of people, economies, wildlife and our ocean. Beach cleanups reduce plastic pollution, protect our coasts, and raise awareness about the larger issues of plastic use.
Action for Environment’s goals of protection, awareness and enjoyment of the coasts became all the more important – the beach belongs to all of us and everyone is entitled to the benefits of clean beaches. Beach cleanups are a simple, yet effective way to reduce plastic pollution, raise awareness about the complexities of the plastic pollution crisis and provide crucial data to help pass plastic reduction legislation across the nation.
We do Lido beach cleanup every Friday and along with those clean ups we also raise awareness around plastic pollution and the current impacts of plastic on our environment.
Our program addresses the trash in our ocean and on our beaches, caused primarily by rampant plastic pollution, through organized citizen action.
